Leading an English department can be a daunting prospect. It often involves leading a large team, and managing everything from stationery orders to curriculum design. This interactive online course will equip new and aspiring Heads of English with practical tools to lead their teams effectively. The 90-minute workshop will cover three areas:
1. Establishing strategic vision
- Developing your vision
- What can you achieve? When?
2. Managing the day to day
- Time management and prioritisation
- Running effective department meetings
- Workload and pushing back.
3. Getting the best out of your team
- How to make it easy to be an excellent teacher
- Recruiting and retaining great teachers
- Dealing with challenging situations.
NB: This is a repeat course.
This course will be recorded but attendees will not be audible or visible.

Cancellation and amendments
- Afternoon and twilight webinars must be paid for by card at the time of booking.
- The fee is non-refundable.
- However, the webinars are recorded. Anyone who books a place on the course will be sent a link to register to access the recording of the webinar until 31st August 2025, regardless of whether they attended live.
