This course is for any teachers new to teaching A Level Media Studies. The day will cover the four key concepts of Media Studies: Representation, Media Language, Audience and Industry with a focus on the theoretical framework (set theories) and ways of going beyond the fact sheets to enthuse and engage your students. We will look at ways of using practical and collaborative tasks to deepen their understanding of key concepts and explore ways of applying theory to a range of media texts including some of those prescribed by the exam boards. It is suitable for non-subject specialists and teachers of all A Level exam boards.

The course was very insightful and I enjoyed sharing ideas with other working professionals in the same position as myself. I took so many notes that I was able to share with my department and inspire some new, contemporary changes. Nadine Stride, Collyer's College, Starting to Teach AL Media Oct 2024

I found the event to be a fantastic help. It was a great atmosphere and the content was highly engaging. I left feeling like I had an array of new tools to use in my classes. Ben McLernan, Fakenham Academy, Starting to Teach AL Media 2023

A really positive experience – resources and activities were extremely useful, and the expertise of the presenters meant that it felt we were in very safe hands! Jude Slater, St Robert of Newminster Catholic School, Starting to Teach AL Media 2023
