Emma Barker

Emma Barker leads EMC’s Secondary English with media/drama PGCE and organises EMC’s emagazine literature conferences. After a period teaching English at community schools through the university of Bologna and working in a literary agency Emma completed a PGCE in secondary English at the Institute of Education. She then taught English in London for 10 years, during which she was an intervention lead, 2i/c and a Head of English. Some of her main areas of interest include work on funds of knowledge and learner identities, assessment and feedback, and developing readers. At the Centre she works on KS4 and KS5 and poetry courses.
