EMC CPD Online: Getting Literature Right at KS3

What is it that we’re trying to do when we teach literature at KS3? Are we looking to inspire a love of literary reading in young readers? Are we inducting them into the disciplinary practices of the subject? Or are we preparing them for the approach to literature encouraged at GCSE? Most teachers will be trying to do all three in one way or another. This course looks at ways to do this that value ideas of personal response and dialogic exploration of texts. It will draw on examples from novels, plays and poetry, providing you with practical ideas to take away, as well as suggestions about which texts work well at this key stage.

Online, via Zoom. Details of how to join will be sent before the session.
